Paso de Jama - San Pedro de Atacama 5. - 8.Nov. 2007

With impressive Wuestenlandschaft in countless brauntoenen and fully vegetationslos we went on a height of 4.800m, along Salaren and giftgruenen salt water lakes with flamingos, in the driest region of the earth, the Atacamawueste.
At this elevation, we noticed for the first time a slight loss in performance of our motorcycles.

Flanked by active and dormant volcanoes, we were not tired and fuehlten us euphoric, but also in part on low oxygen in the air, could this elevation, the brain something upset.

The area is uebersaet with huge tonnenschwehren rocks consisting of the maechtigen vents of Volkane kilometers in the countryside were hurled. Unimaginable what was for the forces of nature gewuetet have have ....

Steil and kurvenlos leads the road 2,400 elevation meters down in the oasis of San Pedro de Atacama to 2.400m.

San Pedro is a city full of tourists and high prices.
The days here are very hot, but the bitterly cold nights.
Due to the dry air can be 400km wide, and there are no clouds, and the starry sky is simply indescribable clear to see just amazing ...

From San Pedro, we made trips into the Valle de la Luna and the Geisieren of Tatio at 4.300m, about 100km north of the city.

At sunrise and minus grades, we bathed in hot sulfur water, which by the lava inside the mountain is being heated.
The Geisiere arise because water on the lava hits and hisses, and the boiling water bubbling from the ground, but also from gefrohrenen Pfuetzen.
Boiling water and ice at a spot just unbelievable ....
